Well, we are clearing up bits and pieces before hopefully moving on to our next happening. The plan so far is to sell some of our goods and chattels, including the beast, but not, so far, the kids. Bill reckons we would get more for them if we broke them into their constituent parts first! Don't worry, only joking!
Anyhoo, been clearing out the loft and have sold lots of old toys and kids stuff, so the slush fund is healthy. Spinky, found a newspaper from 1993 with a pic of yours truly musing about the cameraderie of prawn fishermen...they aint the stories I remember you telling!
So, on the lookout for a new home and new jobs. Other than that boring boring everyday stuff like everyone else.

Ola Missy N,
ReplyDeleteJust back from Mallorca.....It was hot and fab! Considering selling up and becoming a squid fisherman on the East coast of Mallorca. My hero was the skipper of the Jaimito IV. Loved his lifestyle and the fact he could go fishing in shorts, T shirt and sandles. Betweeen that and loafing with his mates drinking plonk and scoffing lovely bread, cheeses and salads......he has got it made.
I recall that newspaper article and i had a copy for a while. I guess the stories you heard were not for publication, well not in the P&J anyway lol lol!!
Any ideas where your new jobs/homes will take you? Me? I would bugger off to the sun........
Spinkyxx
Hi Spinky. Ooooooh so envious. Been thinking about going away again, itchy feet. Not that it is going to happen, need to think about the kids & a slightly more formal education.
ReplyDeleteAre there enough fish left in the Med? Or are you planning on not catching much apart from the odd hangover? LOL. Does sound good though. How does Fiona feel about you going native Juan?
As for the stories...think living room furniture.
We are looking at Aboyne at the moment, but we yearn for Big Sand just north of Gairloch. Not so keen on the midgies though. Although Cabo de Gata in South East Spain would be lovely just now...
Lots of love Spinky, enjoying our 'chats'
Hello you,
ReplyDeleteJust back from London....What a thump back to earth after Mallorca! One minute I am bouncing down in Dyce from the Med, next I am hurtling back up going to London. Such a strange feeling going from the laid back Med lifestyle to being hurled back into the hectic world of the oil business.....me no likey too much lol.
Back to the Med fantasy.....Seriously, I could scrape a living fishing there but the stocks are not too great. I think I would probably try a low key boat repair business or boat hire thing. Another choice open to me would be to work away on a rota and relocate to the Med. You have already sussed the problem though....Not Fi, lol (she would go in a minute) but the Kids education.
Both my little monsters are too big to fit into a Spanish speaking school now. Craig might just get away with it but Hannah, no way. I guess they could go to an International School but that costs and I want to go to downsize my life not just work my butt off in the sun.....I will just dream on
Now back to these stories.....I have thought about furniture but it conjures up so many memories that I cannot sort out which one you might mean lol The one that causes me the most nightmares involves me, another Lesley (who, incidentally, won't acknowledge my friend request on FB ha ha)a sofa and my Mother (who made an unexpected appearance)....Could it be that?? I was always in trouble with the girlies especially in other ports.....I often have cold sweats wondering if there are more Spinky's out there somewhere ha ha... always a sucker for a pretty gal me!!Lol lol.....
Yip, lots of stories from my fishing and Uni' days will keep me smiling in my dotage.
Loving the chat too....keep it coming
Spinkyxxx
God Spinky. I wonder does Fi read the blog? I might be reading over your shoulder and delivering the odd slap to the back of your head. Just like Uni...LOL!Vague recollections of giggling at the back of the lecture hall and getting beery at the St Machar with doorstep sandwiches to soak up some of the excess liquid. Happy days indeed.
ReplyDeleteI still tell people your exam answer when you were doped up on morphine with your broken arm, do you remember? Something about the uses of water in nature...making beer?!
We got there in the end though. Not that it did me much good! Big love, Lesley
PS Glass topped coffee table.
Ha ha, I have told Fi most of the stories prior to me and her so she just rolls her eyes now. Funnily enough most of my Uni adventures are quite clear in my mind and too much to list. I do recall where we sat in Zoo lectures. Funnily enough I went back for a meeting there a good few years later and some of our class graffitti was still there.....Saw names and and little sketches and everything. Do you know the Machar is the only bar in the world I have been chucked out of ?? Oh how I loved 80 shilling and those sandwiches were great ! I think I might have been responsible for you missing those 2pm Psychology lectures on a few occasions. I think it is still there but I don't know if I would go back.....I wouldn't want to spoil my memories if it had changed too much. That broken arm episode was mental though. I can remember that exam and being high...ace fun but useless for exams although the beer answer was epic.....I would love to be around if some future 'Time Team' unearths that exam answer paper LOL! I have often looked at the wall I fell off at Bridge Street. It is the same height as the railway staion roof....It is a wonder I am still alive to type this note. I guess the drink saved me. My arm aches now as I am older but I don't care as the docs initially thought it would only be about 48% fixable !!
ReplyDeleteYes, Uni was fun and mental......I was always at parties and even had a bar in my room.I was generally a good boy although the temptations were many.... In first year there was even this gal who joked about coming around to my room dressed only in a raincoat!! Sadly she never came though...Ach well that was one moral decision less ;-) LOL! I used to love the Union too and had some good laughs in there. I drive past the old building every day now. It is closed and looks a bit sad but if I stare long enough when I am stuck at the lights I can see it alive and watch the ghosts.....
Hmm the GTCT wasn't me though it was a disgusting character called Dougie.....You can guess how gross he was if me and my mates thought he was bad LoL!!Typical of me though, I recounted the wrong story and let out some more secrets!! The Lesley Anne of my story was my first love incidentally. I ran away from home and went to live in Hull with her for a time. I was sooo loved up lol.I should tell you the whole tale sometime....it is epic!! Anyway, she buggered of with a landscape gardener (and his Honda Superdream motorbike) when I was at the sea. I have hated Honda motorbikes and Landscape gardeners ever since LOL!!
I guess we did get there in the end but as to who got the best out of it? It's debatable...
Anyways, best get back to the world of 'Big Oil'
'later
Luvvies, Spinkyxx
So, oil man, is that you blogging at work? Naughty boy. That's not what they pay you for. God, I'm so virtuous now that I'm not at work. LOL. Not sure where we will end up. It needs to be somewhere that we don't need a mortgage to buy. So, that rules out all the decent parts of Aberdeen! Am really bored at home. I have plenty to do, but you know that feeling of things not being enough? Just call me Malcky (the malcontent). If you want a direct line without ltelling everyone yer dirty secrets the e-mail address is lesleynaylor@fsmail.net
ReplyDeleteBGK (big girlie kisses) Lesley Anne (the other one) LOL
